KCRC Electrical Multiple Unit Inspection Services
Atkins was appointed to provide factory based resident inspection services in Osaka, Japan and Kobe, Japan during the build stage of 250 electric multiple unit cars by the Japanese IKK consortium for the KCRC West Rail project and for the KCRC East Rail in Hong Kong. The works included car body and structural inspections, appearance and dimensional checks, ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing, bogie inspection, and electrical systems inspection. The project additionally included the inspection of subsystem suppliers to the build at factory locations in Europe and Japan including door assemblies, brakes, and air conditioning plant.
