Shatin to Central Link SCL-100: Mass Transportation Centre, Alternative Proposal and Project Proposals
Atkins led the study team to carry out a pre-feasibility study for the Hung Hom Mass Transportation Centre as part of the Shatin to Central Link. We were also responsible for co-ordinating the designs of the SCL-200 and SCL-300 sections and ultimately preparing KCRC's Proposal to Government for the implementation of the Shatin to Central Link.

Services provided included project management and co-ordination, design management, value engineering, programming, railway engineering, railway operations, structural, geotechnical, construction planning, traffic and transport planning, environmental, landscaping, safety and tunnel engineering.

 
     

Shenzhen Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) and Railway Development Study (RDS)
Atkins was retained by the Shenzhen Land Use and Transport Authority to carry out a comprehensive transport study in one of China 's fastest growing cities. The purpose of the study was:

-

To develop an integrated economic and transportation study with rail at its core; and

-

The specification of a medium term and long term rail network, in which the rail system is integrated with development.

In determining the optimal rail network, patronage and revenue forecasts for the medium and long term were produced based on the latest planning, socio-economic and highway assumptions.

 
     

Rail Development Studies
As a follow-up to an initial Rail Development Study, a more detailed review of the interface between the planned Western Corridor Railway and the Urban Mass Transit Railway System was undertaken.

Atkins was employed by MTR Corporation to carry out a number of specific studies as follows: People Mover in South Kowloon ; Kwun Tong Line Extension in South Kowloon ; Interchange Studies at Kowloon Tong and Tsim Sha Tsui; LAR Capacity Improvements and Interchange with West Rail at Tsuen Wan West; and Interchange Studies at West Kowloon and Yen Chow Street.
